AQMD Lists Polluters Online

Anyone with Internet access can now check up on businesses or industries to find out if they are violating air-quality rules. The South Coast Air Quality Management District on Wednesday unveiled a database showing violations in Orange County and parts of Los Angeles, Riverside and San Bernardino counties.

The database can be found at www.aqmd.gov under "compliance program."

Violations can be anything from a minor "notice to comply" to more serious problems such as unauthorized discharge of pollutants. Businesses can be found by name, address, city or the number AQMD assigned to the rule violated. The record of major violations goes back to the 1960s and minor violations to the first of this year.
