Green Jobs Moving to Greener Pastures Two more solar companies are sending lots of jobs out of state even when subsidies and politicians galore continue to hand out the green goodies. Even in the midst of even higher government mandated requirements for their products going forward. Apparently, despite all the lip service by politicians at what California is to the “green” jobs market, there is very little reason for the solar companies - even those that are highly subsidized - to continue rent-seeking here in California when the regulatory costs and taxes are so high. Even the solar industry magazines are getting into the discussion, realizing that it's great to have an incubator like California during the rough early growing pains, but when the time for profits arrives, there is no room in the margin for Hotel California. Perhaps they'll add the transportation costs to their carbon footprint when they ship the panels back to California. Orange County businesses groups have been working hard this year to market our area as a national hub for green businesses. This translates to good paying jobs and a bright economic future if the state would step aside and let businesses grow without excessive taxes and regulation. Source: The Harmon Report |
